Well folks, it’s coming up to that time of year. Sunscreen needs to be whapped on, sombrero’s dusted off and 99′s all around. This is England. This is summer. Time to dig into your savings? Let me explain…

So if you’ve just picked up your tickets and you’re on the plane in a couple of weeks, well played. I for one will be escaping the “sun” to get to the sun for at least a week or two. Holiday makers seem to be spending more and more time in the country, mind you; so maybe we’re starting to embrace the rain?
Technological advancements in the field would suggest otherwise. From professionally dry dogs to home-grown camera work, we’ve always tried our best to avoid the rain. Apparently we’ve even started waterproofing soil!

It’s funny that we’re getting better at controlling our environment. What started out as protecting ourselves from the elements is gradually turning into manipulating them. I’ve heard recent chat about pushing water uphill using lasers, (the potential of which leaves me well and truly baffled), and I remember seeing a TV show a little while ago that showed me we’re now at a level whereby we can shift clouds at will (!?). The baffler is that this is not something being used to any greater good (as far as I’ve been able to tell) but to assure American teens the greatest chance of BBQ weather. (If someone can throw me a link for this story, I’d be grateful. My search-fu fails me today).
Whatever the weather, we’re all in for an expensive time. Christmas is over, but this is the real deal. You’re either spending hundreds/thousands on a holiday, or hundreds of thousands/millions on weather controlling technology! Let’s hope you’re still well up-to-date with the savings account.
Of course. The sun might come out.
Jinx.
