67 Days?! Why didn’t you say so?

Why is the 25th April so important?

Chances are any search engine will turn up  some fairly uninteresting answers. 25th April though, I mean.. if it’s not your birthday it’s basically redundant. Just another day in the working week, right?

If you’re sitting there nodding away at this point, then we’re on to a winner. If you’re not, and you HAVE found something important about 25th April: why not share it with us? Short of a Gregorian calendar reference there’s little else we can find to get excited about. A cure then? Alms for the bored?

There is one hope. One towel-in-the-bath for our 25th April spider.

If you hadn’t guessed by now, there is a marathon taking place: the marathon, infact. The excellent news is that you can still get involved: if you haven’t applied already, I’d assume you’re not rushing to sign up for the run itself, but there are many many folks (those running, and those that will benefit from the proceeds) that would appreciate the money. I for one will be helping out, and I know that it’ll tend to my boredom for the day.

Organised events like this work in a similar way to Red Nose Day: if you’re not directly involved you can still find ways to raise money for them. The Marathon is treated as a heave that everyone can concentrate on together on the same day. If you’re not a runner, you must be something else. So there we have it. Whatever you’re good at: making, saying, pointing at, pointing out, writing, listening. There are a million and one ways to help out on days like this. Our 25th April.

“25th April 2010. Unless you’re in it, get on it.” London Marathon.

Besides, if there’s no decent response (and I’ll be checking!) you can be pretty sure that this won’t be the last of the cringeworthy one-liners coming your way.
