World renowned film-maker, cartoonist and funny-man Kevin Smith has been revered for his entertainment for 16 years and counting. His first film Clerks set the first milestone winning awards at it’s premier in 94; beginning a long-standing and successful career. He is recognisable as a house-hold name, despite approaching many controversial topics in his many pieces. He is set to release his next film on the 26th of this month, and knowing Smith it will be a cult classic by the time we get to the twenteens*. It looks as though he’s still hot on the ink with the news of the Green Hornet and Batman hitting the presses, and there’s a tour hitting those lucky enough to be in the states over the coming months.
The story-telling giant fell hard as h
e was today removed from a Southwest flight for being too large. His story can be found some in the Askewniverse where he implores one and all to see his side of events. How much longer will Kevin Smith be a name to be blogged? Personally I think he’ll be just fine. I have a feeling you may agree if you read his response, maybe even listen in to the podcast (if you enjoy one-sided arguments and have an hour and 20 minutes spare.
Whether or not the seat-belt could reach, today has proven to me that Mr Smith is a genuinely real person. The excellent news is that Matt Stone and Trey Parker will have a riot with this story. Good on you fat-boy.
*This is a massive covering-statement. Kevin Smith has had some cracking films, but this one looks as though it’ll fall into the “good” category IMHO (prove me wrong, boys!). Films like Dogma, Clerks (I and II) and Mallrats have rivalled the box-office smashes of the modern day, but I won’t be holding my breath. There’s something in the works, for sure: but this isn’t the droid we’re looking for. I doubt that he’ll have too much trouble with success, though, considering the amount of Kevin Smith-ites desperate to get a step closer to the legend.
