Flights to Manchester

Friday, February 19, 2010

So it seems as though we’ve reached the pinnacle of this years Prem. Liverpool have been all over the shop since Rafa decided to stop using Championship Manager and try to do it blind, but it looks as though someone’s got him back into it as we applaud 7 games of no losses. This Sunday is our chance to hit the leapfrog and start the assent to the Champions L. next year, so let’s hope and pray.

Manchester City sit one point ahead of us prior to Sunday’s match; I challenge any LFC fan to find a more urgent occasion in this years league for Stevie G to pull out a show stopper. We all know that Rafa’s Red Men have fans spread across the country, fans that will need to travel to the Kop. I find it hard to escape the irony that a number of them will be using Etihad Airways (City’s sponsor) for flights to Manchester.

“The airline and Club will also work together on several overseas projects including team tours to the UAE and South Africa , as well as community-based schemes in the United Arab Emirates and East Manchester.

Etihad Airways and Manchester City both have a strong sense of community and we will work together on building ties between Abu Dhabi and Manchester, especially with youngsters through our highly successful soccer school programmes.”

Seems fair enough to me: there’s an effort there to help out the community. Seems as though there’s more of a drive for flights internationally, but at least it’s working on flights to the UK. With the Champions league in full swing it stands to reason that we’ll be getting visitors from all over the shop. Wouldn’t be a bad way to travel home after winning the game either, Carlsberg in hand maybe?

Banyoun is still a worry for starting because of a back injury, Kyrgiakos won’t be making an appearance due to Fellaini working black magic on ref Martin Atkinson: crunching Kyrgiakos’ shin and getting him sent off in the same instance, Torres and Johnson both stay on the wrong side of the sideline. On the brighter side Carragher will be playing, and Viera begins a 3 match ban for city after a ball-breaking challenge on Glen Whelan earlier in the week.

Don’t get me wrong: I’m not going to deceive myself. Chances are it’ll be a boring old game and we’ll be lucky for N’Gog to hit another header (like the game last night against Unirea Urziceni (1-0 to the pool (Europa though. Weak.)), or Kuyt to fluke one off his back: but I’m still believing.

I scored?! Waey!

COME ON BOYS!

[EDIT]: It seems as though Rafa’s gone back to sleep. Torres was played for the last 15 minutes of the game, and there’s little else to note. 0 – 0.

Villa, Tottenham, City and Liverpool now all in the running for the illusive 4th place.
