By now we’re getting used to seeing Mr Hodgson emphatically rubbing his face as though a genie were about to come out of his ear. It seems that he’s more inclined to share his disappointment for the boys than any praise lately – it’s understandable the way we’ve been performing, but it’s all a little too free-flowing for the world-wide audience looking on.

This was during the Newcastle game and he’s been spotted doing it a few times since. It’s a direct reflection on what’s happening at the club at the moment, but it’s not what we want to see from our man at the top. At least we’re starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel.
Gerrard’s been out for a few weeks now, and with Carra gone and Roy on a militant face-rubbing one we’ve found it difficult to close ranks and stick together as a unit.
Looks like the foundations are being set to cover base in case Reina decides he’s not enjoying his time. There’s quite a lot of speculation surrounding his intentions as he makes sure-footed steps towards becoming one of the greatest keepers of our age. It’s clear that he loves what he does, and he’s very close with Torres: they’re very good friends and they’ve set up houses next door to one another. According to one section in El Nino’s biography they tend to visit one another for BBQ’s on an almost daily basis – in the garage if the weather isn’t fitting enough. Sadly for a professional footballer of any decent calibre this won’t be enough to keep him interested in Liverpool if they’re not making headway in the league.
Roy’s been listening to “friendly advice” from Pepe suggesting that he give our Australian second Brad Jones a run out as was the case in the recent Europa formality against Utrecht. Roy and his new scout, sorry.. director of football strategy, have settled on bringing what I’m reckoning is the 6th keeper to the squad (after 20 yr olds Martin Hansen and Dean Bouzanis, and 28 yr old Charles Itandje (yet to appear for Liverpool 1sts)); Yusuf Mersin. I doubt the savings accounts have been smashed, but the transfer took place for an “undisclosed fee”.
It’s not looking good for the future of having our Spanish talisman available for the 11/12 season, but if we can pull something out of the bag we’ve got a chance. I’m not going to say that he’s likely to leave if we don’t come away with any silverware.. how can I? I have no idea how he feels about the club further than media speculation, but I know full well that GOOD players want GOOD results. Watch this space.
Saying that, here’s hoping we won’t need the bench for a quickfire switch and save any time in the near future using any of our fleet of back-up GK’s. I’d far prefer to see Reina sold than badly injured the likes of which Cech has dealt these past few seasons.
The Fulham game was cancelled this weekend, so our next fixture is looking to be boxing day.
